Share. Heal. Grow.
I’d like to tell you a little more about me so that you can get a feel for whether I’m right for you. Because whether you’re new to seeking therapy or you’re returning for more, entering into it can be nerve-wracking at first.
Whilst I can provide you with some introductory information, there’s nothing like sharing in a conversation to get a feel for working with another. So, if and when you’re ready, contact me and we can set up an informal chat to help you get started.
My beliefs
Being human is awesome and precious. Our naturally adaptive minds, bodies, emotions, and personalities have evolved to have limitless life-improving capacities. Therefore, we can move from positions of self-limitations to positions of increased self-compassion, motivation and flexibility. To realise more of our innate potential….. potential to grow, adapt and live more healthy and happy lives.
But living well is tough. There will be times when we find ourselves overwhelmed, distressed, struggling, lost, scared etc. Perhaps because of past events, present experiencing or a mixture of both. During these times, we are in need of some more precise support to get us through our hardships. But reaching out can add yet another layer of difficulty. The answer can come in the form of a caring, confidential and neutral therapeutic space in which you can more fully explore the complexities of your heart and mind.
Throughout my life, I have put into practise my desire to help individuals learn more about themselves so that can make better choices for themselves, improving their present and future well-being. And I do my best to live by the same principle, desiring to create opportunities to improve myself, my well-being and my general contentment throughout my life’s journey.
My journey
Having been both troubled and fascinated by people at a young age, I became an early ‘people-watcher’, and have worked within the field of human behaviour ever since. I began my professional career in employee learning and development, progressing into people and project management, coaching and mentoring, in both private and public sectors. I also volunteered as a part-time counselling therapy in a charitable organisation, aware of some of my own life struggles, my internal position of ‘suffering in silence’, driven to help others in more ways.
After prioritising my career in one direction, I realised that I wanted to re-direct myself towards providing dedicated mental health and emotional well-being support, desiring to help individuals in more meaningful ways, myself too. What followed came the difficult, life-changing decision to take a ‘leap of faith’, to ‘re-purpose’ and make a life change. To move away from the familiar towards the uncertain, yet desired. And so I plunged into a challenging period of study and re-qualification. During which I ‘lost’ myself, then found more purpose than I had ever had before.
Trained in various theories of counselling and psychotherapy, personal coaching, learning and development, I have also lived my own my life’s journey, moving closer towards whatever living healthier and happier means to me. I hope to inspire others using ‘real-world’ strategies and personal experience, alongside supporting psychological theories and research to help you move closer towards a healthier and happier you.
